Job Description
The Piping & Equipment Layout Lead Designer is a skilled professional with experience in piping design and equipment layout, capable of leading projects of various sizes. This role involves creating piping design, equipment layout and stack-up drawings, interfacing with other engineering disciplines, interacting directly with clients and performing field design work.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume overall responsibility for piping design and equipment layout work on assigned projects
- Perform piping design and drawing tasks
- Oversee design work performed by junior-level designers on the project
- Produce equipment layout, piping orthographic and isometric drawings
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and clients
- Prepare and monitor piping work hour estimates for projects
- Lead 3D model reviews with clients at various project engineering stages
- Develop piping cost estimates for different project stage gates (front-end loading)
- Perform field work by obtaining information, making field sketches, and verifying drawings
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of fifteen years of piping design and equipment layout experience in one or more of the following sectors: Chemical, Polymer, Refining, Power
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology preferred
- Experience in Consulting Engineering is desirable
- Proficient in 3D piping design; experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D and Navisworks is a plus
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction
- Consent to a background investigation, including verification of past employment, criminal history, and educational background
- Willing to undergo a post-offer drug test
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to undertake occasional domestic overnight travel
